Here is an original card from the 1941 Play Ball set of Baseball Cards. This is #56 which is of Johnny Vander Meer of the Cincinnati Reds. John Samuel Vander Meer (November 2, 1914 – October 6, 1997) played for the Cincinnati Reds (1937–1943, 1946–1949), the Chicago Cubs (1950) and the Cleveland Indians (1951). He was a 4 time All-Star (1938, 1939, 1942, 1943) and a World Series champion (1940). He was a 3 time NL strikeout leader (1941–1943) who was noted for Pitching two straight no-hitters on June 11 and 15, 1938. He was honored as a member of the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame. It has been authenticated by the SGC Company. They graded the card as a A, which stands for Authentic with evidence of being trimmed. This is a high grade for this card. It is encapsulated in their casing for display and preservation.
