Here is an original card from the 1889 edition of Baseball Cards produced by the Old Judge Cigarettes. These were inserted into packs of cigarettes to promote the cigarettes as well as to keep them from getting bent. These feature an image in the center of a player on the front with the name and team noted below their picture. This one shows Harry Decker of the Philadelphia team. It has been graded by the SGC, Sports Card Guaranty. They have rated the card as a 5.5, which stands for Excellent. This is a very high grade for this type of card. It is encapsulated in their casing for display and preservation.
