The 1923 W572 strip card set includes player images and replica signatures on the fronts. The card fronts were printed in both black and white and with a sepia tone while the backs, like most other strip issues, were blank. As was common in other strip issues, the stock on which these was printed varied a little. As a result, some have gray backs and others have white backs. This back variation seems limited to the cards with black and white fronts. This one shows Grover Cleveland Alexander (February 26, 1887 – November 4, 1950) who played for the Philadelphia Phillies (1911–1917), Chicago Cubs (1918–1926), St. Louis Cardinals (1926–1929) and the Philadelphia Phillies (1930). Alexander was a World Series champion (1926), 3 time Triple Crown (1915, 1916, 1920), 6 time NL wins leader (1911, 1914–1917, 1920), 4 time NL ERA leader (1915, 1916, 1919, 1920), 6 time NL strikeout leader (1912, 1914–1917, 1920). The Philadelphia Phillies jersey retired his jersey and he is a member of both the Philadelphia Phillies Wall of Fame and the Chicago Cubs Hall of Fame. He was enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame with the class of 1938. It has been graded by the SGC. They have rated the card as a "3" which stands for Very Good Condition. It is encapsulated in their casing for display and preservation.
