Here is a wonderful 1980's Rod Carew Game Worn California Angels Cap from The Tom Morgan Collection. Rodney Cline Carew was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame with the class of 1991. During his career, Crew was an 18 time All-Star (1967–1984)AL MVP (1977) with the AL Rookie of the Year (1967) and the Roberto Clemente Award (1977) as a bonus. He was the 7 time AL batting champion (1969, 1972–1975, 1977, 1978). The Minnesota Twins retired his No. 29 jersey number as did the Los Angeles Angels No. 29 retired. He was honored as a member of the Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame and the Angels Hall of Fame. This piece came from the personal collection of Tom Morgan. Tom Stephen Morgan (May 20, 1930 – January 13, 1987) was a Major League Baseball pitcher. A native of El Monte, California, the 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m), 195 lb (88 kg) right-hander was signed by the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent before the 1949 season. He played for the Yankees (1951–52; 1954–56), Kansas City Athletics (1957), Detroit Tigers (1958–60), Washington Senators (1960) and Los Angeles Angels (1961–63). As for the hat, it is a classic 1980's California Angels hat with the midnight navy lid sports red visor and button with team logo at front in red/white/gold embroidery. It is a New Era made "7 1/4" tagging in headband with "29" in vintage black marker on the underbill. The cap exhibits wonderful evidence of game use, with soiling to the headband and tagging. The hat is accompanied by a letter of provenance from Tom Morgan's daughter. A great hat from a legendary player!
