Here is an authentic card from the T-207 set of baseball cards. The T207 Brown Background baseball series were distributed in 1907 via various tobacco brands, including Broadleaf, Cycle, Napoleon and Recruit. Consisting of 207 cards, each collectible measures 1-1/2" by 2-5/8" and features a distinct player portrayal (with the obvious brown background) framed by a thin white border with the athlete’s last name, the name his home team’s city and league identified within a small rectangle at the bottom edge. Card backs carry various tobacco advertisements. This one is from the Recruit brand of cigarettes. It has the image of Louis Evans of the St. Louis Cardinals. Louis Richard (Steve) Evans (February 17, 1885 – December 28, 1943) was a right fielder in Major League Baseball. He played in the National League (NL) for the New York Giants (1908) and St. Louis Cardinals (1910–13), and in the Federal League (FL) for the Brooklyn Tip-Tops (1914–15) and Baltimore Terrapins (1915). The card has been professionally graded by the SGC Company and they have rated it as a 1, which stands for Poor Condition. It is encapsulated in their holder for display and preservation.
