Here is a wonderful piece of history that you seldom encounter. It is an original contract and cancelled check between a player and the Topps Baseball Card Company. This is the original 1962 dated Bert Campaneris Signed Topps Contract. This Topps contract signed by six-time All-Star Bert Campaneris on April 14th 1962. On the back of the paper it is signed for by his mother because he was underage. The contact measures 14 inches by 8-1/2 inches. The agreement happened more than two years before his major league debut. Also included is a check from the Topps candy and cards company endorsed by Campaneris. Dagoberto Campaneris Blanco (born March 9, 1942), nicknamed "Bert" or "Campy", is a Cuban American former professional baseball shortstop, who played Major League Baseball (MLB) for four American League (AL) teams, primarily the Kansas City / Oakland Athletics. One of the mainstays of the Athletics' championship teams of 1972 to 1974, he holds the A's franchise records for career games played (1795), hits (1882), and at bats (7180). A modern xerox image of Campaneris in uniform will accompany the pieces.
