Here is an original card from the 1941 Play Ball set of Baseball Cards. This is #19 which is of Charley Gehringer of the Detroit Tigers. He was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame with the class of 1949. Charles Leonard Gehringer (May 11, 1903 – January 21, 1993), nicknamed "the Mechanical Man", was an American professional baseballsecond baseman. He played for the Detroit Tigers for 19 seasons from 1924 to 1942. During that time, Gehringer was a 6 time All-Star (1933–1938), was a World Series champion (1935), won the AL MVP (1937) as well as being the AL batting champion (1937) and the AL stolen base leader (1929). The Detroit Tigers retired his No. 2 jersey number. What makes this card special is that it is signed in in by the Hall of Famer, Charley Gehringer. This card was authenticated by the Beckett, BVG Company, and it is encapsulated in their casing for display and preservation.
